Modern Legal Education began taking place only in B.S. 2028, when a fulltime three-year Diploma in Law, after graduation, was introduced by Tribhuwan University. The development presented a promising future of legal education as an independent 'Institute of Law' was established to look-after. However, it got a shocking treatment in B.S. 2037, when 'institute' was converted into a low profile 'Faculty of Law'. The profiency certificate level was eliminated, and the older version of gradutate + three year course was reintroduced.

Program title

The title of the program is Bachelor of Arts - Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA LLB). This is an undergraduate degree. It is five years (10 semesters) programme.

Course Objective

The objective is to provide in depth knowledge in systems of Governance along with legal subjects.The students are introduced to political theory, social theory and economics other than law subjects.This course cultivates the ability to appreciate the role of lawyers in justice education in a globalizing world sensitive to the needs of sustainability, poverty and vulnerability. It makes them to respond to governance, administration and human behaviour keeping in mind cultural sensibilities, diversity, gender sensitivity, environmental sustainability, comparative, transnational and global competencies after studying law in the particular context of humanities and social sciences.

Course purpose

  • To prepare competent human resource in the field of law and justice.
  •  To demonstrate an understanding of the working of the legal system in Nepal.
  • To apply knowledge gained to the socio-legal problems in the society.
  • To produce human resource equipped with necessary skills, competency and integrity for the legal profession.
  • To make students eligible to practice in Courts, Industries, Companies aslegal practitioner
  • To encourageresearch and new perceptions into law and society.

Future scope

After the completion of BALLBstudents can choose their career as an advocate, Legal Advisors in MNC’s and Company’s,a lawyer, legal officers, a public prosecutor, company secretary, etc.

Eligibility

The candidate must have passed 10+2, PCL or equivalent level in any streamform a recognized institution or board. Only the candidate having minimum45% marks or minimum D+ Grade in each subject are eligible for admission after qualifying entrance examination.
